On May 22, 2024, Anijie Global Foundation took a significant step towards promoting inclusive and equitable quality education with their "Back to Basics" project. In line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, the foundation donated 500 books to the library at Dawhenya Methodist "B" Basic School in Ningo Prampram Municipal Assembly, Ghana.

More Than Just Books This event went beyond a mere book donation. Over 350 students participated in an interactive session that left a lasting impact. The Anijie team conducted a comprehensive career development and mentorship session, encouraging critical thinking about future paths. The focus was on developing practical skills that will serve these children throughout their lives.

Guiding Future Careers During the session, students were guided on:

  • Choosing the right career path
  • Setting achievable goals
  • Acquiring standout skills in their chosen fields
This approach aligns perfectly with the foundation's mission to empower youth through educational and leadership programs.

Introducing Global Goals The team also educated students about the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They passionately shared how each individual, regardless of age, can contribute to these global objectives. Students were encouraged to see themselves as leaders and changemakers, capable of making a difference in their communities and, by extension, the world.

Impact on the School Mrs. Rita Arhin, the school's Headmistress, was overwhelmed by the visit's impact. She described it as "a blessing to the school and the children." She noted that the students had been profoundly influenced, now seeing themselves as changemakers and leaders who can positively impact their community, contribute to its development, and shape the nation's future. Mrs. Arhin also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Anijie team for supporting their library with the much-needed books.

Student Reactions The session profoundly impacted students:

  • "I now understand my role in achieving the SDGs and that I am a leader who can change my community."
  • "I have been enlightened about my career path and the importance of skills."
These statements underscore the foundation's success in instilling a sense of responsibility and empowerment in these young minds.
