Maudlyn Akosua Awuku
Leadership. Empowerment. Inclusion.

From her humble beginnings in a suburb of Accra, Maudlyn's life was a testament to resilience. Her early struggles, instead of breaking her spirit, fuelled her determination to be a catalyst for change. Drawing from her own experiences, she now uplifts others facing similar challenges, inviting them to join her on a journey of social impact.

Maudlyn's vision took shape in the form of Anijie Global Foundation (Ghana) and GEWE Network (UK). These organizations are dedicated to empowering women and young people who face systematic barriers. Maudlyn firmly believes in unleashing their immense potential to become changemakers through quality education, training, and funding. Her commitment to providing these empowering tools to marginalized individuals and communities in the Global South is evident in the community and international development initiatives she leads inspiring others to follow in her footsteps.

Focus Areas

Gender Equality & Women's Empowerment (GEWE)

Having faced systemic barriers, Maudlyn takes a multifaceted approach to promote intersectional gender equality and women's empowerment. Through advocacy, mentorship, and amplifying young women's voices, she aims to shape gender-responsive policies. Maudlyn tackles deep-rooted issues impeding women's progress, championing causes like Women's Leadership, Education, Period Poverty, Skills Development, and Financial Independence.

Youth Leadership and Education

Experiencing education's transformative impact first hand, Maudlyn believes it's a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, fostering economic growth, and promoting social inclusion. Her initiatives include literacy and basic education campaigns, leadership development, vocational and skills training, scholarship programs, and community-based learning, enabling marginalised individuals from the Global South to unlock their full potential.

Climate Action and Sustainability

Maudlyn is unwavering in her dedication to empowering women and youth in the fight against climate change. She is committed to shaping policies prioritising sustainable initiatives, reducing our environmental footprint, and creating green jobs. Her efforts also extend to the African Youth Gender and Climate Conference (AYGCC), an annual event she spearheads to foster dialogue on gender issues and climate change among young people.
